Into the Tiger Reserve..

MAY 10- 2007 ..Second day of my wildlife adventures…I decided to go for Periyar Tiger Reserve[PTR].My friends Kiran,Ashore were with me. My route was Kanjirappilly-Mundakkayam-Peerumedu-Vandiperiyar-Kumily-Thekkady..it took me about 4hrs to reach there..But the expectation didn’t match the situations over there.Due to Mullaperiyar issue,lot of Kerala as well as Tamilanadu police are gathered there.We found its very difficult to have good trekking for normal tourists .You have to pay a lot of amount of money for the same.But if you are willing to pay there are programs like Tiger trail,Jungle patrol..etc.We didn’t want to any money.So we abandoned our plan for a trekking .We wandered around the periyar lake side and saw some wild boars .We also can see a lot of birds there.It’s the largest sanctuary in Kerala with a population of about 27 tigers as now.We went near Kampam in tamil nadu.We end up our journey with the hope of coming back with proper permission from authorities..
